About this product
shortshort is a web-based AI clip maker built for one specific job: taking a single long video and turning it into ready-to-post vertical shorts. Its positioning is deliberately narrow and hands-off — 'one video in, shorts out, posted for you.' You drop one file (up to 3 hours and 2 GB, in MP4, MOV or WebM, or paste a YouTube link in the studio), and shortshort listens to the entire video, finds the complete, quotable passages worth keeping, and turns each into a 9:16 short. The AI does not cut thoughts in half: it transcribes the audio word by word with OpenAI's whisper-1 and selects excerpts that open and close on complete sentences, then checks each short's ending so it lands within 25% of a target length you choose between 15 and 90 seconds. On the Free plan you get up to 3 shorts per video; Starter gives 5, Creator 10 and Studio 20, with up to 8 excerpts per short from the same source. Each clip is reframed automatically to follow the face on screen with zooms between x1.0 and x1.6, while slides and wide shots stay full-frame. Captions are timed to every word in one of four styles — Spotlight, Impact, Karaoke or Minimal — and output is exported as MP4 at 1080 x 1920, 9:16, 30 fps, individually or as a ZIP. Scheduled publishing to YouTube and TikTok is in early access, with a calendar auto-fill that posts one short a day and writes titles for you. The target audience is podcasters, webinar and marketing teams, course creators, conference speakers, YouTube creators, sales teams, agencies and newsrooms — anyone sitting on a library of long footage. Key differentiators are the source-language captions (never translated), EU-based storage via Supabase in Frankfurt, a privacy setting on paid plans to keep shorts out of the community gallery, and full manual editing of every AI proposal in the studio before export. It is free to try with 60 credits at sign-up (1 credit = 1 minute of video), no card required.
